So, the wasteland ends with this schizophrenic-sounding prayer. It includes first allusions that have sad/hopeful tones. Next, the "London Bridge is..." segment presents an element of disaster... In short, it seems that this "prayer" is a plea for some higher power to step in and address the sadness and disaster that is plaguing the land.

Well, I think the 'WTF' can be said about the entire play. It seems like a prelude to the 90's tunes of Grunge, and then the take-off od Radio Head...it seems the world is always ending...and people are always speaking of death....in this world of misery and decay, something ugly can always be seen. If only awards and praise can be given for something written about beauty in the world. Even though I prefer the tragic myself.
ReplyDeleteIt is a prayer indeed, but think more deeply if you ever read about not what he says (everyone has already said it before) but how he says it...that's the difference between a poet and 'schizophrenic' chap...
